Go 'Fashionista' this Eid!

Soon the Holy month of Ramadan will be leaving us and in return for our fasting Allah Almighty will give us Muslims the gift of Eid. As Eid is the time of festivities for us Muslims so let's find out style tips for Eid to make this Eid trendy.

Eid is the time of celebrations and we Muslims really look forward to it every year. I love this time of the year when families get together; new clothes are to be worn, varieties of sweet-dishes are made, dinners/BBQ is held, all in all it is a time to party! Now when we say it is the time to party it also means new clothes, shoesbagsjewelry etc. etc. Most of the shopping is how ever done way before Eid yet girls love to go out at Chand Raat for 'Mehndi' and 'Churriyan' where as boys hangout because they love girls. :)

As Eid is coming in between summer and winter this year when the weather is hot and humid so Eid fashion trends are also according to the weather. Therefore, speaking of Eid-ul-Fitr I was wondering what new we could do with the latest Fashion trends and below are the style tips for Eid I thought of for making you look stylish on this Eid.

  • Clothes
We all know long flowing dresses are in vogue which means we can make the most out of the expensive cloth we buy. Kaftans are a la mode now a days they are available in variety of colors and designs. My Eid style tip for you is get your own Kaftan stitched and experiment with it. Choose your own combinations of the ribbons or embroidery with the color of the cloth. There are also a vast variety of laces available in market at very economical prices just search for the one made for you. You can also find colorful flowers made out of ribbons which will look really nice if used wisely on your Kaftan. Other than Kaftans, long A-line shirts are the love of every girl so what you should do to make your dress unique is go bold with the ribbons and laces you use on your dress. Choose bold colors and you can also show your dress off by using 3 or 4 layers of ribbons on the 'daaman' and sleeves of your shirt. Same colored layers of ribbons can also be used on the end of the loose trouser.

  • Bangels
As loose and elbow length sleeves are in vogue your forearm is visible making plenty of space to wear bangles. So another Eid style tip is to match your bangles with the laces or ribbons you use. I personally like 'Kaanch ki Churiyan' they are available in almost every bold color you can think of. Mix them up and show off your girly side.

  • Make Up for Eid
Lucky us that the latest makeup trend also involves bold colored eye makeup i.e. orange, mint green, purple, mauve, yellow etc. Experiment with your makeup before Eid so that on Eid Day you are all set to do your thing. Mymakeup style tip for Eid includes bold eye makeup with lots of mascara, a little blush-on and shimmery gloss on the lips. (Avoid using too much of foundations etc. in summer)

  • Shoes
Fortunately platform heel shoes are also in this year so go out grab a pair of those heart throbbing shoes. Designs from Stylo, Comley, Milli, Oeces,Metro are my personal favorite.

  • Mehndi Designs
One could write a whole article on the mehndi designs for Eid style tips but here I will just mention the names of a few mehndi designs which are chic for Eid-ul-Fitr 2010. So the mehndi designs trendy for this year are Arabic mehndi designs, Modified Islamic mehndi design and Indian Mehndi designs. What I personally prefer is thelatest Arabic Mehndi design which is rather simple with a pattern of flowers and leafs made on hands and feet leaving a major part blank. Other designs which cover whole of the hand, arms and legs seem to be too old fashioned now and mostly they are used in weddings.

  • Hair Styles
My last but not the least Eid Style tip is about how to style your hair. The latest fashion trend for hair includes long hair-dos. So my Eid style tip which includes some modification to the latest fashion trend (because I like the 'desi' touch) is the use of 'Parandas'(already made braids out of thread to be worn when you make a pigtail). Believe me 'Parandas' go very well with long flowing shirts and if you know how to carry them off they can make you look really stylish. Parandas are available in very beautiful colors and eye catchy designs in the market so do grab one of them.

These are some of my Eid Style Tips hope that you get some ideas on how to make this Eid fashionable yet keeping it 'Desi' as 'Desi' Rocks! ;)

Fun In The Sun

Fun In The Sun...

Over the weekend, I was enjoying the sun that we rarely get in this rainy city. One of my favorite things to do is go to the beach and just be by the water, but of course you still have to look very stylish as you relax and have fun. A really fun simple outfit to wear is a maxi dress with lots of color! This is something that I feel is a must have of the season, so lets all get out there and shop!

A cowl neck or pattern around the top will draw attention away from problem areas
Don't underestimate the power of dangling earrings and powerful accessories.

Flat shoes in Pakistan are being accepted widely in summer since the fashion circuit prevails that way. Everyone should learn the most about the flat shoe trend, starting from who is designing them to what outfit to wear with them.
This summer is just the right season for everyone to pamper their feet with flat shoes and let them breathe in fresh air. Versatile sandals, round toe flat shoes, pointy flat shoes are a few categories. Other trends include flat shoes with multiple straps, gladiator shoes and also khussas and kolapuris if you want to try something ethnic and equally trendy. However, there are plenty of styles and variety available throughout Pakistan in flat shoes that you would be amazed.
There are various styles that depend on the outfit one carries. It does not matter whether you go for elegant and chic flats, a pair of flat sandals can always be a smart investment. Flat shoes come in various embellishments, ranging from multi coloured crystals, metallic straps, silk or satin flowers catch everyone’s attention. There is a high probability that if you are into jewellery and accessories such embellished shoe trends will be highly preferred by you.
Fashion should be made truly functional therefore, comfort of the flat shoes is necessary before making a choice to buy them. Aerosols are a good choice when comfort is your utmost priority. The best thing about the flat shoes is that they look great with whatever you wear them. With a pair of skinny jeans, a pair of whimsical flat shoes looks equally funky.

GRYF FASHION SHOW 2011

GRYF FASHION SHOW 2011

I was positively surprised by the high level of the competition. Before Szczecin Fashion Weekend, I googled up all the competitors and I found out that almost none of them existed in the web. Only some not-working or not updated since 2008 websites. I tend to think (and I’m quite sure I’m right) that web marketing is nowadays crucial, especially in fashion area. Therefore, I was expecting amatours – either people who are in the very beginning of their careers or people who know nothing about what they’re doing.

After all, who else would start in competition you can win 500 euro in? Making a collection can be more expensive.  Therefore, I was really surprised I actually liked the collections. They were good. Mostly.

Marita Bobko
Pret-a-porter category won Marita Bobko – she is the one with website updated in 2008. Hurry up, girl, I know 500 euros is not enough even for a good webmaster, but at least put that music off. I must confess, I don’t agree with the jury. Marita Bobko is – probably – a great cloth designer, but not a fashion designer. Her collection was good, proper, coherent, trendy, but there was nothing special there, nothing I would remember the next morning.

Anna Syczewska-Grabowska
Personally, my favourite competitor in this category was Anna Syczewska-Grabowska. Although I didn’t understand much from the description of the collection, and what I DID understand from the description, I didn’t find in the collection, I still liked it. It was spectacular, coherent, but not  humdrum.  Deep greens, greys,  red furs.  The collection fits autumn/winter trends but still stays very original.  The author got a special proce founded by  HEXELINE.

Aleksandra Błasiak
Aleksandra Błasiak, presented hanadmade collection of dresses and suits made of silks and laces. Unforunately, jury apparently wasn’t found of handicraft this time.
I almost completly forgot the  Premier Vision category even before the end of the evening, what means most of the collections were good but dull. I remember only two – the best (this time I agree with jury) and the worst one.

Gavel Grzegorski
Gavel Grzegorski – when I checked up his website before the competition, it didn’t work correctly, exepct for logo and google ads. On Monday it was fine, what means that Gaveł is probably the best amoung the competitors as far as self promotion is concerned. That’s good. Perhaps this would give him some chances in this business, because he won’t accomplish much thanks to these clothes.  The collection is gothic-futuristic. It is supposed to be dedicated to
People with open minds and hearts who would understand the innovative, dedicated to the future concept.
Well, that means it’s not dedicated to me. Because one have to be able to look into the very very distant future to see the times in which leggins, leather, minimalistic knit-wear and feathers will be considered innovative again.

Malgorzata Jachowicz
The best was Malgorzata Jachowicz; her collection proves that one can be spectacular and minimalistic in the same time. The collection was inspired by birds and strait-jacked.  All in white, except for black gloves with bird-like claws. The cloths vere loose but with stiff elements, very carefully constructed.
The Haute couture category was won by  Monika Blazusiak, who presented  fantastic collection called “About Stripes”. Something like leather armour, carefully constructed and very well styled.

Monika Blazusiak
Also, Aurelia Fąfara’s collection is worth mentioning. Very comfortable, very user-frendly woolen clothes, with beautiful fancy-work.

Aurelia Fafara
Other collections were at least good/decent. Event’s orgazation was very good. After all those badly organized and poorly performed events that I have been attending lately Szczecin Fashion Weekend was a nice change.

fashion is my life

Get furry in this season

With stylish overcoats, ankle boot and scarves this winter, don’t forget to add a subtle touch of fur charm for it is one of the hottest trends of the season. Don’t you just love that cozy soft feeling when it touches your skin!
Well, Love it or hate it, real fur or faux, but fur is what most Pakistani celebrities including fashion modelNatasha Hussain, Nausheen Shahsinger Ali Zafarand many more are seen wearing fur these days. But this doesn’t mean you go out wearing those long Eskimo fur coats, with fur I mean ‘subtle touch’ for it’s not snow falling outside.
This fur trend is spreading its opulent charm not only in Pakistan but in International fashion world as well.Fashion designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, Ungaro, and Alexander McQueen are showing that a little touch of fur in the outfit can amazingly change its entire aura from ordinary to royal, giving it an opulent feel that can magically make you stand out amidst a crowd.
For the best fur look, you can combine fur with shimmery formal outfits for a majestically royal look. Fur can also make you look casual yet classy; combining a small fur scarf or cap with a long trench can give you a dazzlingly causal yet cool look in winter.
You can buy a jacket with fur on its hood or sleeves, or you can add a subtle furry touch with fur scarf or fur cap, the key is ‘don’t overload yourself with fur’ and you will look just perfectly trendy!
